No Service Discovery

(Firstnecron) #1

I created a BYON on a fresh install of ubuntu desktop 15.10. The dockercloud agent was install, its detected on cloud.docker.com. I can run new services and everything else, but none of the services can see anything else. I’ve checked the docker.log and I see errors like:

Based on what I understand of the Docker cloud, I’d assume all of the weave things would be set up already, as that is one of its features…

(Firstnecron) #2

I’m able to ping other containers within a different container on the 10.7.0.0 subnet, but none of the names resolve.

Those logs are normal. Which base image are you using? What’s the output of “ping host”?

(Firstnecron) #4

Tried going through the tutorial in the docs - using dockercloud/hello-world:latest.

ping host from inside of a container results in “ping: bad address ‘host’”

I see exactly the same issue. Seems to be related to this topic where I added some more comments:

Unfortunately I’m pretty new to docker, so I’m thankful you were able to debug things further than my knowledge.

I also went ahead and tested using it on digitalocean, and it worked perfectly fine there. I was trying to set up some basic things, but pulled back to using the starter stuff from the tutorial just to see if i can get it working with the step by step stuff docker gave (obviously with no luck on BYON).

I’ll start up the computer again and see if I have the same situation on my BYON.

Also, I wasn’t able to access any endpoints that were listed on the cloud site for my services either. I assumed its firewall related, though, but I havent touched anything with the iptables, and this is a fresh install of ubuntu 14.04(?) with the only thing I’ve done being installed dockercloud-agent.

Edit: So just checked, docker top weave gives basically the same as your result.
