Reduce number of concurrent builds

(Shaun Jackman) #1

It looks as though the default number of concurrent builds is 4. I’m using the free AWS t2.micro instance with 1 GB of RAM. That’s enough RAM for a single concurrent build, but multiple concurrent builds brings it to a grinding halt. Is there a configuration option to reduce the number of concurrent builds?

Thanks,
Shaun

Hi Shaun,

If you want to force the build to occur on specific nodes, tag the node(s) with builder.

If you want to control the number of concurrent builds on the node, just set the tag to builder=N, where N is the max number of concurrent builds.

Hope that helps!

Thank you! That’s very helpful. Are you referring to the “deployment tags” documented here? I don’t see the builder tag documented.

It’s referenced here under Automated Builds: https://docs.docker.com/docker-cloud/feature-reference/automated-build/

So it is. It doesn’t mention that it takes an argument though. Thanks for your help!
