Trouble starting a docker daemon

(Bobby) #1

When I do docker info I get this:

Get http:///var/run/docker.sock/v1.16/info: dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: permission denied. Are you trying to connect to a TLS-enabled daemon without TLS?
admin@discourse:/var/discourse$

Docker start returns this:

start: Rejected send message, 1 matched rules; type="method_call", sender=":1.12" (uid=1000 pid=13388 comm="start docker ") interface="com.ubuntu.Upstart0_6.Job" member="Start" error name="(unset)" requested_reply="0" destination="com.ubuntu.Upstart" (uid=0 pid=1 comm="/sbin/init")

And lastly, ./launcher bootstrap app outputs this:

time="2015-01-07T02:09:32Z" level="fatal" msg="Get http:///var/run/docker.sock/v1.16/info: dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: permission denied. Are you trying to connect to a TLS-enabled daemon without TLS?" Cannot connect to the docker daemon - verify it is running and you have access

EDIT
So I got it (sort of working) and I did sudo docker -d and got this error:

is a bit mild - I’m also guessing you have an old version of Docker - please upgrade both,

I use red hat and docker 1.6 and still get

[09:22:32][Step 3/3] [info] time=“2015-08-06T09:22:32-04:00” level=fatal msg=“Post http:///var/run/docker.sock/v1.18/build?cpusetcpus=&cpushares=0&dockerfile=Dockerfile&memory=0&memswap=0&rm=1&t=: dial unix /var/run/docker.sock: permission denied. Are you trying to connect to a TLS-enabled daemon without TLS?”

I already have user in group docker as per instructions here: http://stackoverflow.com/a/29701323/1007845 Problem persists.

try running it via root user?
