Unable to start the VM: xxx --type headless failed:

I’m trying to create a docker machine for Kaggle and have been trying to run:
docker-machine create -d virtualbox --virtualbox-disk-size 160000 --virtualbox-memory 8196 docker2

However whenever it tries to start the machine after creating it I get:

Error creating machine: Error in driver during machine creation: Unable to start the VM: /usr/bin/VBoxManage startvm docker2 --type headless failed:
VBoxManage: error: The virtual machine ‘docker2’ has terminated unexpectedly during startup with exit code 1 (0x1)
VBoxManage: error: Details: code NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005), component MachineWrap, interface IMachine

I’m unable to find a solution for this. I’m un Ubuntu 16.04 and have Virtualbox installed.

Ok I managed to solve it but not sure how. I uninstalled Virtualbox (for the umpteenth time), then i did sudo apt autoremove to clear out previously downloaded installers (at least that’s what I think that does).
Then I reinstalled Virtualbox from the Oracle website.

Only then I was able to create and start the Docker VM for Kaggle.
