Why can't I scale up HAProxy?

(Micahzoltu) #1

I am running docker dockercloud/haproxy:1.5.1 and when I set it to have 2 containers it only launches one and gives me a little indicator that the service needs to be redeployed.

What exactly is preventing docker from launching mutiple instances of this container?

Is there some reason why I can’t run multiple instances of HAProxy?

You can only run one container per Node as it wants to control port 80/443. If you want multiple containers on the same node you would need to publish them on dynamic ports – not all that useful :frowning:

We run an HAPROXY container per Node; works well in that scenario.

Were you able to use network mode host with your haproxy?
