I am investigating whether the DNS records for download.docker.com were modified between November 13, 2025, and November 14, 2025. The cached DNS entry had been functioning correctly for over two years, but connectivity to this domain began failing on or around November 14, 2025. Could you please confirm whether any DNS record changes were made for download.docker.com during this timeframe?
I don’t know, but if your cache doesn’t have the same value that nslookup download.docker.com returns, then probably. As community members we are not informed when a DNS entry changes
The domain has multiple IP addresses including IPv4 and IPv6 and I assume it can change sometimes when a new server is added or removed for some reasons.
Is it causing you any trouble for which you would need more help?
Thanks @rimelek for your immediate response. This is not an issue right now, as I have updated and reloaded the cache. However, I wanted to confirm whether the disruption was caused by the domain migration, possibly to a different provider. It would be really helpful if you could confirm this.
As I pointed out, the community is not informed about changing DNS records. If it were important, I could probably find someone from Docker, but if you are just curious for any reason that helps you in the future with managing your caches, I recommend opening a ticket on GiHub. I guess, since the domain is related to packaging, you could ask here:
You could explain there why it is relevant to you, and the better you explain, the faster you get a response.
