(macOS) Cannot login: Docker Desktop stopped on "Processing login data..."

I have been trying to log into my docker desktop for days - tried a bunch of things but can’t seem to.

Firstly, when I start my docker, it takes really long to even open up. Once opened up, I click on “sign in”. It opens up my browser, I login but when its redirecting me to the app - i can just see a “Processing login data…” message. It never completes. When I click on sign in again, nothing happens and after maybe 5mins, new tabs for logging in show up.

If I do docker login I get the error:

Error response from daemon: Get "https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/": net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

System:
MacOS Tahoe 26.1
M1 Pro Chip
No proxy/VPN
Haven’t tampered any firewall settings

Docker version 28.5.2, build ecc6942
Docker Desktop 4.51.0 (210443)

I’ve been stuck on it for so long, some help would be really appreciated!

It is some kind of network issue, but I don’t know why. I have the same Docker Desktop version on Mac, except that I have an older macOS. I haven’t upgraded to Tahoe yet.

You could try the troubleshooting guide

and share the diagnostics ID on GitHub with the developers

But you could also try changing the virtualization method just for testing in General Settings.

Or Go to Settings » Resources » Network and try changing settings. The valid Docker Subnet should be detected automatically, but in case it collides with your network, you can try changing it.

You could also change Default Networking Mode. If it doesn’t help, change back. Changing settings and changing back can help soemtimes if the GUI shows an incorrect value. Then the DNS resolution could be changed from auto to IPv4
