MCP Catalog image versions

Hello,

I see that the official mcp/<image name> images are not generated by the projects themselves but by another automated process. This is missing vital release information about the projects, such as application version tags.

For example the mcp/grafana image is only published using the latest flag. Will the application release version be used in future versions of images deployed to the MCP Catalog?

Although I can’t give you or link an official answer yet, but I can tell that you are not alone with this question and with the same suggestion of using app versions as tags and Docker already knows about it. I assume the latest tag was just temporary and I would expect specific version tags in the future, but it is just my personal opinion for now based on some discussions.
