I want to install OpenProject into the Docker cloud, as described in the instructions that I linked. I’m new to Docker and not sure how to begin. Is it required to install Docker Desktop to do this? Or can I execute the commands on the web portal? I don’t see a console in the web portal.

Do you mean Docker Offload?

Even if you do, I still don’t know what your problem with it. Can you explain what exactly you did and at what point you got stuck?

I don’t know if I mean offload. I’m new to Docker and have no idea how to begin. Is it required to install Docker Desktop to do this? Or can I execute the commands on the web portal? I don’t see a console in the web portal.

If you can’t share what you really want to do, we can’t help. There is no Docker Cloud. There is Docker Build Cloud that you can use to build images using cloud resources instead of your local machine and there is Docker Offload, that you can use from Docker Desktop to run some containers during development in a cloud temporarily. And youc an even ask for GPUs. Thwre was also cloud.docker.com whihc is now called Docker Hub. That is also a Docker image registry to store Docker Images and look for official or other existing images. You can also build your images automatically from GitHub, but I don’t know about anything that is currently called Docker Cloud.

Or was it the question exactly? Did you want to know if Docker provides a Cloud like Google Cloud where you can run containers even for production services?

I have tried to explain what I want to do. I want to install open project on Docker. I want to host the image on the Docker server, not on my own server or desktop.

In terms of the various details that you mentioned, I’m new to Docker, so I don’t know if that’s what I want.

I don’t know what you mean by production. I want to run this container for my own personal usage. Very low activity.

Apparently Offload isn’t available yet. I signed up for the beta, but i don’t see how to use it.

Answers can always be as good as the questions. @rimlek tried to guess based on the information you shared.

Nevertheless, Docker currently has no offering in this area.

If you feel it’s a missing feature, you can add a feature request to the docker road map: GitHub Ā· Where software is built.

According to video here, there used to be a way to add providers. How can i add a cloud provider in 2025?

Are you sure you shared the right video? I don’t see where it mentions any provider. The description menitones ā€œin the cloudā€, but that is just generally saying that you can have a container image, create a container from it in any cloud that supports either virtual machines or any way to run containers directly, and it will run.

On desktop browser, this page contains a video
https://docs.docker.com/get-started/docker-concepts/the-basics/what-is-a-container/

Repeating the same URL as a code will not help us understand you better. As far as I know, that video mentiones no providers. If you think I am wrong and I missed that part when I quickly went through it, please share where exactly in that video you heard mentioning providers. Otherwise I’m afraid this is as far as we could go with this topic.

Purpose of providing the URL was to give you access to the video that you said you could not find.

The functionality demonstrated in the video appears to be no longer available. If I’m incorrect, please let me know where I can perform the actions demonstrated in the video.

That’s not what he wrote. He said the video does not mention any providers, in his later post he asked for the exact timestamp in the video.

I am not sure what you mean by that, but the embedded video didn’t change since yesterday.

There is no free tier offering from Docker to run container payloads. But you could sign up for Docker Offload Beta, and indeed run containers there. Though, I have no idea whether it’s feasible to run payload 24/7 or what costs to expect additional to the Docker subscription. Docker Offload indeed requires Docker Desktop to be installed, and can be used as a Backend.

That video was produced several years ago, not yesterday. Where do I access the functionality shown in that video?

I registered for offload. It appears to be unavailable at this time.

It is a closed beta, you have to register for it.
