Docker build "File has a too long base path"

I have been running into an issue when attempting to build a docker image which contains a file with a path name longer than 155 characters (it’s a “very” nested npm package of which I have not control).

JobExecution failed: File "<really long path name>" has a too long base path (should be 155 or less)

Has anyone run into this limitation and is there a way around it?

Docker version 1.2.2

Resolve the Path Too Long error with the help of ‘Long Path Tool’.
