Docker for Mac/Kitematic - Kitematic (beta) is damaged and can't be opened

Is the Kitematic version that going to Dashboard/Download specific to the docker for mac beta? When I try to open it I get

“Kitematic (Beta)” is damaged and can’t be opened. You should move it to the Trash.

I can install the version on the website, however I am unable to execute any commands via the exec button, which leads me to believe that it is a specific version. Can anyone confirm this, and if so, is there a previous version which will not throw the damaged error that I can use with docker for mac beta?

It is a different version of Kitematic, and there is an issue on github. I would link but discourse is limiting my links?

Although it says its fixed when as far as I can tell it was not in any of the recent releases.

Workaround: Move downloaded app into /Applications and run

xattr -rc /Applications/Kitematic\ \(Beta\).app

solved it for me
