During login to docker I receive: Error response from daemon: Get https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/: proxyconnect tcp: dial tcp: lookup proxy.example.com on 8.8.8.8:53: no such host

I just installed docker on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, as below:

When I try to run “docker run hello-world” I receive the following error message:

docker: Error response from daemon: Get https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/: proxyconnect tcp: dial tcp: lookup proxy.example.com on 8.8.8.8:53: no such host.

This message appears after any docker command, including “login”.
Can anyone help me get out of this?

My /etc/resolv.conf is already as follows:

# 127.0.0.53 is the systemd-resolved stub resolver.

nameserver 8.8.4.4
nameserver 127.0.0.53
/etc/resolv.conf (END)

I tried to restart both daemon and docker but received exactly the same error as before. It’s interesting to note that docker login command also returns the same error. Any additional clue?

Hello again, folks…
After adding “proxy.example.com” to my /etc/hosts file I receive a different error, as below:

[ibmsys01@gustavo-ubuntu ~/zPDT]$ docker login
Login with your Docker ID to push and pull images from Docker Hub. If you don’t have a Docker ID, head over to https://hub.docker.com to create one.
Username: gutavolozano
**Password: **
Error response from daemon: Get https://registry-1.docker.io/v2/: net/http: request canceled while waiting for connection (Client.Timeout exceeded while awaiting headers)

Can you please help me with that?

maybe you can clear docker , docker system prune
