Environment variables masking

Is it any way to make env vars passed via --env or -e not show up in host system’s process table?
I work on a project with extremely constrained environment (due to a no longer actively supported orchestrating system we use), where it’s virtually impossible to have them passed in a file, or even inherit from host, like -e VERY_NICE_ENV_VAR, with no value part as in VERY_NICE_ENV_VAR=42.

I may be asking about something impossible, but technically, program arguments (so-called argv) could be dropped, right?
