I’ve been automatically building repo “organization/a-repo:latest” with no trouble on Docker Hub. Because of the --no-cache slowness, I recently refactored my Dockerfiles to try to speed up builds by sourcing from a single base image, “organization/b-repo:latest”. My automated builds started failing, saying “Authentication is required.” even though the “FROM organization/b-repo:latest” source is in the same organization as the repo I’m currently building. Is it possible to build private images from private source images? I changed the source repo to public, and still no go.

The answer is “yes.” For whatever reason, my images have stopped failing and started building over time.
