Is there a secret for upgrading from DOcker 1.8 to 1.10? (RHEL/CENTOS 7.2)

(Davidlandry) #1

I run "yum update’ and docker-1.8.2-7.el7.centos.x86_64 gets upgraded to docker-1.10.2-6.git0f5ac89.el7.x86_64 but then Docker daemon fails to start.

==================
sudo systemctl start docker
Job for docker.service failed because the control process exited with error code. See “systemctl status docker.service” and “journalctl -xe” for details.

Nevermind, seems there is a migration process for moving to 1.10.

Start here: https://docs.docker.com/engine/migration/

Which leads to the migration tool page https://github.com/docker/v1.10-migrator/releases

where I dowloaded the tool https://github.com/docker/v1.10-migrator/releases/download/1.0.2/v1.10-migrator

then chmod 755 v1.10-migrator (or whichever version you downloaded)

then ran the tool: “sudo ./v1.10-migrator” (I had several images so it took about 40 minutes.
