Latest working Docker Desktop on macOS High Sierra

Latest working version with working Docker Desktop is 4.6.1 on macOS High Sierra 10.13.6 (17G14042).

If you need newer version, but with no working Docker Desktop (can’t change Preference settings in GUI, but can change in settings.json file), use 4.11.1.

On both versions you will receive message what this version of macOS is not supported just ignore it. But don’t close it.

Running

Docker.app/Contents/MacOS/com.docker.diagnose check

command on 4.11.1 hangs on

[PASS] DD0014: are the backend processes running?

with error

Please investigate the following 1 issue:

1 : The test: is the native API responding?
Failed with: failed to ping tray application with error: Get “http://ipc/ping”: dial unix backend.native.sock: connect: no such file or directory

The native API server is needed to start Docker engine

Could not figure out a problem. Maybe somebody has any clue?

Thanks.

The latest version of Docker Desktop that is compatible with macOS High Sierra (version 10.13) is Docker Desktop 2.4.3.2.

Can you share where you have read about it?
