Looking for minimalist ubuntu 14.04 image

Hi, this must have been discussed in other places, but couldn’t find an exact
match. Also not sure this is the right forum.

I want to get a super-stripped Ubuntu 14.04 image which uses ubuntu
repositories (and apt-get). I am not looking for Alpine linux.
Alpine linux uses apk and those repositories are limited and do not work for
me with SSL libraries and anything that deviates from from dev environment which is ubuntu.

Can someone point me to a barebones ubuntu docker image,
which does not give me a hit of 188MB that the ubuntu:latest does?

That’s pretty much as stripped down as ubuntu images get, but I frequently use debian for a base image, and it’s very very similar for most use cases including the availability of apt-get etc.
