Windows 10 install fails "Could not find a part of the path" (when username includes a dot)

Installing Docker Desktop 3.5.0 (66024)

Download failed: Could not find a part of the path ‘C:\Users\jasonlake\AppData\Local\Temp\rzsvbzg3p2h’.

My user name is jason.lake (notice the dot)
The dot is missing in the path in the error message…

I’m also experiencing a similar error, with the same problem (dot missing from user name in path)

Download failed: Could not find a part of the path ‘C:\Users\juliovillalta\AppData\Local\Temp\lgrbjwrrt4s’.

I am also getting this install error (FYI, I have the Windows 10 Business edition); I downloaded whatever edition was available on the docker.com site today (6/23/2021):

Download failed: Could not find a part of the path ‘C:\Users\NorbertoSilva\AppData\Local\Temp\vmoiywbcohf’.

I run Docker Desktop Installer version 3.5.0.66024 . At the moment it is the latest version.

I have got the following error: Download failed. Could not find a part of the path

Additional information. I have user name with “.” inside. My user name Viktor.Zh
