Docker desktop cannot load engine on Ubuntu 24.10 Gnome 47

hi docker community,

I followed the official instructions and made it to a successful launch of the dekstop app and log-in with with my personal docker credentials on Ubuntu 24.10 and Gnome 47. After that the “Docker Engine” loading spinner spins endlessly. I can run through CLI and e.g. spinnin up ‘hello world’ container is possible though. TUI tools like lazydocker also detect docker.

What are the correct ways to troubleshoot / where can I find relevant logs?

(yes, I restarted the host multiple times already)

Are you sure you have only one Docker? Please, show the output of

docker version
