Failed to set version to docker-desktop: exit code: -1

Docker Desktop for Windows

Dear all,

whenever I try to switch to Linux containers Docker start fails with the following Error:

System.InvalidOperationException:
Failed to set version to docker-desktop: exit code: -1
stdout: Der Vorgang wird von dem Objekttyp nicht unterstützt, auf den Bezug genommen wurde.

pre configuration has been done as follows:
-Windows Subsystem for Linux
-Enable Virtual Machine feature
-Download the Linux kernel update package
-Set WSL 2 as your default version

Windows version is fine:
winver

I have tried out all possible solutions suggested in:
Failed to deploy distro docker-desktop · Issue #8204 · docker/for-win (github.com)but nothing solved the issue.

Does anyone know about this? respectively know how to solve this?
