I have never heard about such a restriction, but since Docker Desktop is for development, I have never thought of running it in two machines. There could be some situations, but I never had those. If you want to run a Windows machine and a Mac to test your application on both at the same time or make a cluster (that would be tricky with Desktop), I don’t see why you couldn’t.
Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure I did that too, because I use Docker Desktop on my MacBook, but sometimes I open my Windows laptop as well, to test a Docker command for someone.
