"docker is starting..." and nothing

Hi,

I’ve just updated my docker desktop to later version v 4.6.4.

First issue was a completly white docker desktop and as suggested I remove everything, deleted folders and download new version 4.6.4

After rebooting, when I run desktop docker, I have a “docker desktop stating…” but nothing happens even after 10 min

This can be only due to update as nothing else happened on my laptop except that update.

if I type docker -v, I get the v 29.2.1 as version

I did a “wsl –update” to get Linux v 2.6.3

However a simple “docker ps -a” can get a result and seems to loop, like the “docker desktop is starting” in the systray of MS windows.

I tried to start desktop using desktop icon but even with “docker desktop start” in powershell terminal.

I launched a disgnostic and result has been sent to docker team.

But what’s the issue with this v4.6.4 ?

There is no Docker Desktop v4.6.4. You probably mean 4.64.0.

Which version did you upgrade from?

EDIT: Now I’m thinking, you probably couldn’t upgrade multiple versions in one step, but plese, confirm that 4.63.0 still worked for you.

I don’t remember from which version I upgraded unfortunatelly.

I did some tests and v 4.63 has the same issue.

I downgraded to 4.60.1 and it works. So issue is related to version after the 4.60.1.

I’m gonna test 4.61 and 4.62 to be sure when the flaw happens

So after testing the problem occurs at v 4.61.0 and can be reproduced with v 4.62.0, v4.63.0 and v 4.64.0

The last working version is 4.60.1 in my case.

So what has been changed on v4.61.0 that generates a “starting docker desktop…” infinite loop on Windows 11 ?

Something must have happened around 4.60.1, because this is the version I saw in some reports recently and also 4.59.1. That is why I was curious from which version you upgraded. Fortunately, but in this case unfortunately, I was not able to reproduce it on any of my machines. Something similar occured once before, but not around this version I believe.

Can you rephrase that? What do you mean by “seems to loop”? Do you mean you get a response sometimes but sometimes don’t when the “docker desktop starting” message appears?
