Docker engine fail to start after windows update

Docker engine failed to start after running a windows update and a disk clean-up, as well as updating docker desktop app. What can I do to fix this problem?

Information

  • Windows Version: Windows 10 Home, version 20H2, Os build 19042.1081, Windows Feature Experience Pack 120.2212.3530.0
  • Docker Desktop Version: Docker desktop 3.5.1 (66090)
  • WSL2 or Hyper-V backend? WSL2
  • Are you running inside a virtualized Windows e.g. on a cloud server or a VM: a cloud server

This happened to me as well. I uninstalled Docker and then reinstalled it and that fixed it. Although, I just read another post from someone who also had the problem and he tried that and it didn’t work so can’t say for sure.
